Business class award fares to Mumbai from New York started at 88,000 points one way in PointsGPT's recorded finds, and half of the 8 New York business finds were at or below 127,500. Across every US city we recorded, half of the 20 economy finds were at or below 42,250 points and half of the 27 business finds at or below 159,000. These finds were from US departure cities, recorded October to November 2026, for one traveler, one way, as of 3 November 2026. They were available when someone searched and may not be by the time you do. Award availability changes frequently.
What the recorded finds show
A recorded find is the cheapest award fare a PointsGPT search returned in the cabin and on the dates the person asked for. The figures below are airline miles, one way, for one traveler, to Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (BOM). When your card points transfer at 1:1, the miles and the card points are the same number.
From New York (JFK, Newark and LaGuardia):
- Business (8 finds, from 8 people): two were 88,000 points, both through United MileagePlus, one from JFK and one from Newark. Two more were 96,000 through Emirates Skywards. Half were at or below 127,500.
- Economy (8 finds, from 6 people): half were at or below 40,000 points, and 40,000 came up twice, both through Flying Blue. A Cathay Pacific Asia Miles find from JFK was 38,000.
Every city figure rests on fewer than 10 finds, so read them as a range.
From Los Angeles (LAX and the nearby airports):
- Economy (2 finds): one was 35,000 points through Emirates Skywards and the other 45,000 through Flying Blue.
From other cities:
- San Francisco business (8 finds): the cheapest was 100,000 points through Turkish Airlines, then 109,000 through Emirates. Half were at or below 181,000.
- Chicago economy: two of the three finds were 38,000 points, both through Asia Miles.
- Dallas and Seattle business: 109,000 points through Emirates from each, and 110,000 through Air Canada Aeroplan from Dallas.
From every US departure city we recorded:
- Economy (20 finds): a quarter were at or below 38,000 points, half at or below 42,250 and three quarters at or below 49,500. The most common price was 40,000 (4 of 20), then 55,000 and 38,000 (3 each).
- Business (27 finds): a quarter were at or below 109,000 points, half at or below 159,000 and three quarters at or below 185,000. The most common prices were 109,000, 185,000 and 181,000, each 3 of 27.
- Premium economy: only 3 finds, too few to show a pattern.
None of the Mumbai finds in economy or business was nonstop. A few finds priced far above the rest, so read the ranges above as the usual picture.

Which programs priced these fares
Of the 51 Mumbai finds, Flying Blue was on the board for 44, followed by United MileagePlus (31), Air Canada Aeroplan (30), Emirates Skywards (27) and Etihad Guest (20). Emirates priced the find itself most often (14 of 51), ahead of Flying Blue (12), United (6), and Turkish Airlines, Aeroplan and Asia Miles (4 each).
These are the card points that reach each program, from the transfer grid PointsGPT uses:
- Emirates Skywards: Bilt Points at 1:1, Amex Membership Rewards and Citi ThankYou Points at 5:4, and Capital One miles at 4:3.
- Flying Blue: Amex, Bilt, Capital One, Chase Ultimate Rewards and Citi, all at 1:1.
- United MileagePlus: Bilt and Chase at 1:1.
- Aeroplan: Amex, Bilt, Capital One and Chase at 1:1.
- Etihad Guest: Bilt, Capital One and Citi at 1:1.
- Turkish Airlines: Bilt, Capital One and Citi at 1:1.
- Cathay Pacific Asia Miles: Bilt, Capital One and Citi at 1:1, and Amex at 5:4.
You can check each of the programs PointsGPT searches before you pick one. Partner lists and ratios change, so check your card's current partner list before you transfer. A transfer cannot be undone.
Watch the cash part on Mumbai fares
Every award fare carries taxes and fees paid in cash, and some programs add carrier surcharges.
- Business: all 10 Emirates finds carried four-figure cash charges, and so did the one Asia Miles find. Flying Blue was three-figure on all 5. United was two-figure on 3 of 4 and single-figure on 1, and both Aeroplan finds were two-figure. We do not know the cash part on the 4 Turkish Airlines finds.
- Economy: Flying Blue (5), Emirates (4), Etihad (3), Asia Miles (3) and Virgin Atlantic (2) all carried three-figure cash charges. Both United finds and the one AAdvantage find were two-figure.
From New York, the 88,000 United business fares came with a two-figure cash part, while the 96,000 Emirates fares came with a four-figure one. See the surcharge trap for why programs charge so differently.
Plan your search
- Flexible dates: search a few days either side of your target.
- Two or more travelers: search for everyone at once. One award fare on a flight does not mean the same price is open for your whole party.
- Connections: every find here connected, so check the layover and whether both flights are on one ticket. Our guide to booking connecting award flights explains what to look for.
- Other Indian cities: if Mumbai prices high on your dates, our guide to points needed for Delhi covers the recorded fares there.
Points or cash?
Before you transfer, compare the award fare's full cost, the points plus the cash part, with the cash fare for the same flight. When the cash fare is already low, paying cash can keep your points for a trip where they cover more.
How to search it in PointsGPT
When you start a search, type the trip the way you would say it, for example:
Business class from New York to Mumbai, any week in February, 1 traveler, I have Chase and Amex points
- Tell PointsGPT which card points you hold, so it can mark the fares those points reach.
- Compare the points and the cash part on each fare, and check each connection.
- Confirm the fare with the airline program before you transfer, because the transfer cannot be reversed.
