Award Flights to Europe: Six Real Fares

These six transatlantic award fares were available as of 18 September 2026. Their points prices range from 45,000 to 70,000, but the points total alone does not show which fare offers the best overall value.

Compare the surcharge with the points price

The 45,000-point New York-to-London fare has the lowest points price, but it also carries a four-figure surcharge. The Rome fare has a four-figure surcharge as well.

By comparison, the 50,000-point New York-to-Zurich fare carries a surcharge in the low tens. The 70,000-point Los Angeles-to-Paris fare also has a very small surcharge. Once both parts of the cost are considered, Zurich compares especially well within this group.

Check the operating airline before transferring

Carrier-imposed charges often depend on the operating airline, and the airline program used to book may pass those charges on. That is why two fares with similar points prices can require very different cash payments.
