Finding an award fare does not guarantee that it will still be available when you book. Availability can change between the initial search and checkout for several reasons.
Check award fares for your route →Another traveler may have booked it
Award fares are limited, and fares on popular routes can disappear quickly. If another traveler completes a booking first, the airline program may no longer offer the same fare.
The points transfer may have taken too long
If you found a fare, started a transfer, and returned later, availability could have changed during the wait. Transfers are not always instant: some post in seconds, while others can take days.
Confirm that the fare exists before moving points, then account for the expected transfer time. What is award travel explains the order of operations.

The search result may have been cached
Some search tools show a snapshot rather than current availability. The fare may have been available when the snapshot was created but gone by the time you tried to book. Confirm it directly with the airline program you plan to use before transferring points.
The airline program may not have had access
An award fare can appear through one airline program without being offered through another. Programs can receive different access to the same flight, so the same itinerary may appear available in one place and unavailable in another.
Confirm availability in the booking program
Before transferring, verify the fare through the airline program that will handle the booking and continue promptly if it is available. This extra check reduces the chance of moving points for a fare you can no longer book.
