An empty award search is a snapshot of one route, date, and airline program. It may reflect limited availability, but it does not necessarily mean there is no workable trip.

Airlines make a limited number of award fares available on each flight. For a popular route or travel period, those fares may already be booked, or the airline may not have released them at all.
Availability can change on other dates
Award availability changes as airlines release fares, schedules shift, and cancellations return inventory. An empty search only describes the date and route you checked at that moment.
If your schedule allows, search nearby dates and check again later. Even a small amount of date flexibility can give you more combinations to review.
Another airline program may show a different result
An airline's website shows the availability and pricing offered by its own program. Other airline programs may sell the same flight at a different points price or have different access to it.
When one program returns nothing, compare the other programs your points can reach before ruling out the flight.
A connecting route may still be available
An empty nonstop search only tells you that a nonstop award fare was not shown for that date. A connecting itinerary may still be available. Finding it is currently a manual step, covered in booking a connecting award flight.
Broaden the search in a useful order
